Research Interests

My research agenda is situated at the intersection of political theory and international political thought. Having first hand experience of the deportation regime in the UK I am pursuing a line of research that challenges the status quo of institutional design and human agency and re-imagines the possibilities of empowerment within the international.  To do this I draw on my knowledge of political theory, domestic and international alike, while engaging with aesthetic and micro-political discourses within IR.  My ongoing publications refer to both an autoethnographic and reflexive methodology, paying particular attention to the possibilities of narrative discourses, to reveal the moral dilemmas of forced deportation and the inherent vulnerability therein.  I draw on these methodologies to highlight the impact of personal experience in the hopes of widening the breadth and scope of aesthetic and emotional encounters within ‘the international’.
