Chris is Lecturer in Economics at Aston Business School. He joined the school in September 2018. Prior to that, he worked at the University of Surrey and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Chris' primary research interest is in the economics of tourism, with a focus on tourism demand analysis. He is well versed in macroeconometric methods (including vector autoregression and time series models). His research explores human mobility from various angles, such as the economic, political and geographical factors underlying cross-border travel patterns. A key topic of his research is modelling global interdependence and the synchronisation of tourism demand cycles, in order to draw out implications for business strategy.

Chris has published articles in top-tier journals, including Tourism Management, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Travel Research, and International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. He is also an experienced reviewer, serving more than 15 leading journals in tourism, economics and management.

Apart from academic research, Chris has undertaken a number of externally funded projects for policymakers at, for example, the European Commission (EC), on economic impact assessment.

On the education side, Chris has previously served on review panels for Pearson Education and Cengage Learning, reviewing popular textbooks in economics, finance and statistics, and has contributed case studies to textbooks.
