Adult brain stem cells in central nervous system remyelination
Dan Ma is a lecturer in Aston Medical School (AMS) working on medical education and research. She is interested in brain stem cells in remyelination. Dan Ma obtained her medical degree and MD in China. She came to UK as a Royal Society Visiting Scholar at University of Nottingham, following which she completed her D.Phil on neuroanatomy at the University of Oxford. She moved to the University of Cambridge to continue biomedical research in several labs focusing on neurosciences. While working in the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, she conducted various projects on adult brain stem cells in myelin regeneration, with a focus on translational medicine. She joined AMS in 2018. While continuing the study on remyelination, she has developed the projects on investigating the role of endothelial cells (ECs), including the ECs derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC), in remyelination and neuroregeneration.
