Danny joined the department as a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations in September 2016. Before coming to Aston he was a Lecturer and Research Fellow in Politics at the University of Manchester. He has also held research positions at the University of Sheffield and has been a Visiting Fellow at Boston University.


Research Interests

Danny’s research explores theories of the state, nationalism and identity, the politics of sport, representation and governance, and higher education policy and reform. His book on The Politics of UK Regulation: Between Tradition, Contingency and Crisis was published by Palgrave in 2016.

PhD Supervision

Danny is keen to supervise PhD students interested in the theory and practice of regulation, the politics of sport, representation and democracy, and British politics.
