Biography

Dr Imelda McCarthy is a chartered occupational psychologist (HCPC Registered) who specialises in organisational behaviour. Her PhD research, ‘The Complexity of Leadership and Organisations’ was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and undertaken at Aston Business School. Imelda joins CREME from The Institute of Work Psychology (IWP), University of Sheffield, where she researched in the fields of organisational psychology, management and healthcare. She has extensive research and consultancy experience and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Imelda started her career within Aston Business School’s Work and Organisational Psychology Department during this time she worked on a range of NHS related research projects including: Quality and Safety in the NHS, The NHS Benevolent Fund Feasibility Study, NHS National Staff Survey Consultation, NHS Northwest Leadership Academy Evaluation, London Ambulance Service Evaluation of Culture, Birmingham Children’s Hospital Leadership Study and NHS Haringey GP Poly-Clinic Consultation.  Imelda also worked on a series of other organisational projects that included: Innovation Vouchers (in association with The European Regional Development Fund, Advantage West Midlands, Economic and Social Research Council, and Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council), Birmingham City Council, Astra Zeneca and West-Midlands Probation Service.
