Biography

Kirit is an economist by training and has combined teaching and research at Aston Business School with numerous consultancy and research assignments in some 20 countries for international and national development and aid organisations (including Asian Development Bank, DFID, European Commission, ILO, UNDP, UNIDO and the World Bank.

Research Interests

Current research:

  • Technology transfer and industrial development (with special reference to China)

  • Technology-based collaborations between foreign and Chinese firms

  • Capability development of Chinese industrial enterprises as latecomers

  • Public works programmes in developing countries, wage rates, labour supply, asset creation and social protection.

Past areas of research:

  • China’s high-tech revealed comparative advantage

  • Value of rural traveller’s time savings in low-income countries

  • Economics of labour intensive public works programmes in developing countriess

  • Energy economics

B.Soc.Sc.(Economics, Politics, Sociology), University of Birmingham.

Specialisation in Economics, Quantitative Methods and Economic Development.

Awarded the Faculty Plender Prize.

Supervision of 5 PhD students to completion, currently supervising 2 students.
