Biography

I joined Aston Business School in 2024 as a Research Associate working alongside Professor Roberta Fida on research that examines violent behaviour in the workplace.

Alongside this, I am a current doctoral researcher on an ESRC 1+3 scholarship at the University of Birmingham. I joined the programme following a Masters in Organisational Behaviour from Aston University and a degree in Business Management at the University of Birmingham, and have since completed an MA in Social Research.

Research Interests

My research interests are primarily related to policy, parenting and EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) in the workplace. My PhD is a qualitative study examning the decision-making processes of LGBTQ+ parents.

I have previously conducted an ESRC-funded project with the University of Birmingham and Aviva, examining Aviva’s parenting policies and their use by LGBTQ+ parents to understand and identify any barriers or areas of improvement to these policies.

I worked as a Research Assistant for the University of Birmingham for several years as part of the Equal Parenting Project, which aims to improve the use of family-friendly policies in the UK and encourage equality in the workplace. As part of this Lowri has worked on Government and Higher Education research projects such as the development of the 'Fathers in the Workplace Toolkit' which was launched in the House of Commons in March 2019. I have a keen interest in policy and have worked closely with both private and public organisations to examine and improve organisational policy.

More recently I was involved in a collaborative project undertaken between the Equal Parenting Project at the University of Birmingham and the Work Autonomy, Flexibility and Work-Life Balance Project at the University of Kent as part of The Working From Home During COVID-19 Lockdown project. This project sought to examine employees, employers and managers’ experiences of home-working in lockdown and beyond during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

My main research interests include:

  • Public policy
  • Organisational policy
  • LGBTQ+ identity / Queer studies
  • Gender equality
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
