    Personal profile

    Biography

I completed both my undergraduate (Mathematical Engineering - 2012) and postgraduate (Applied Mathematics - 2015) degrees at the University of Birmingham. My doctoral thesis concerned the stability of three-dimensional non-Newtonian boundary layer flows. Since completing my PhD I have held lectureships at the University of Leicester, Oxford Brookes University and Coventry University. In addition to this, I often visit the University of Sydney to undertake collaborative research work.

I joined Aston University in September of 2022 as a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics. I have experience teaching across both Mathematics and Engineering undergraduate degree programmes and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

I currently hold an EPSRC New Investigator Award, the focus of this project is on novel drag reduction methods. Dr Liam Escott is working with me on this project in a post-doctoral capacity. I am currently director of studies for two PhD projects here at Aston. I continue to co-supervise other PhD projects whilst also supervising numerous bachelors and masters level mathematics and engineering projects in Fluid Mechanics.

I am part of the UK Fluids Network (UKFN) and contribute to two Special Interest Groups (SIGs): Non-Newtonian fluid mechanics and Boundary layers and complex rotating flows.

I am always happy to hear from prospective students. If you would like to come and work with me feel free to get in touch via email so that we can discuss potential projects.
