I have an unusual education within three different educational philosophies (French, Danish and British). My educational background has led me to be part of several departments within leading schools. I have a PhD in Human Geography from Sheffield University (UK), an MSc in International Trade and Finance from Lancaster University (UK) and a degree in Economics from Perpignan (France) and Esbjerg (Denmark) Universities. I feel very privileged to be able to understand these three disciplines that are complementing each other in many ways.
This has allowed him to be part of multidisciplinary research projects and teams and to understand as well as draw on the specific strength of different research methods. I have been teaching for over 20 years at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of marketing, consumer behaviour and retailing in Instituto Technologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico city, Lancaster, Manchester and Sheffield Universities, Sabanci University in Turkey, Aston University (UK) and Rennes School of Business in France.
I have been specialising in the area of retailing, technology and consumer behaviour using both my backgrounds in economics and marketing. In particular I have been part of a three year Economic and Social Research Council funded project investigating grocery store choice and household behaviour. I am currently particularly interested in e-consumer behaviour, retailing online for staple goods such as groceries that are bought as a basket of product and services and m-technologies practices.
