Biography

Ute Stephan is Full Professor of Entrepreneurship at King's College London, Honorary Professor at Aston Business School (Entrepreneurship) and at University College London (Psychology), Transcampus Professor (Organisational Psychology) at TU Dresden, and a Fellow of the International Association of Applied Psychology. She is an editor at Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, consulting editor at the Journal of International Business Studies, and the past Editor-in-Chief of 'Applied Psychology: An International Review' (2015-19). Previously Ute was at the University of Sheffield’s Institute of Work Psychology, the London School of Economics, and the Catholic University Leuven, Belgium. In the past, she worked as a certified social skills trainer and has over 10 years’ experience consulting private, public and third sector organisations. She holds a PhD in Psychology from University of Marburg (Germany).

Ute's research focuses on (1) the relationships between culture, institutions and entrepreneurship, (2) social entrepreneurship, and (3) entrepreneurial motivation and well-being. Ute published in leading journals such as the Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Management Science, Journal of Business Venturing among others. She is a member of the editorial review board of the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Venturing, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. She is also a member of the UK Global Entrepreneurship Monitor and an elected board member of the GLOBE project and of the International Association of Applied Psychology. Her research has attracted over GBP 3 Million funding from the European Commission, national research councils, and charities.
