Exploratory Variables for Crash Injury Risk Analysis: Safety. 54th UTSG Annual Conference

Research output: Unpublished contribution to conferenceUnpublished Conference Paperpeer-review

The United Nations has set the target of halving the number of deaths and injuries from road traffic crashes by 2030 (WHO, 2021). Nevertheless, car occupants account for the largest share of road victims (44%) (EC, 2021). An extensive number of studies have been conducted to determine what factors influence crash injury risk (CIR). However, uncertainties inherent to selected variables have been neglected. The objective of this study was to demonstrate the variance in variable selection and classification when modelling injury risk for crashes involving light passenger vehicles. In addition, this study identified challenges when comparing studies using inconsistent variables classification.
