    Abstract

Icebreakers allow group participation and facilitate student ongoing engagement and interaction, so they are an excellent way to get participants interested in a programme or activity and relax. This chapter discusses the meaning and aims of icebreakers and offers practical hints and tips on what makes an icebreaker successful. My list of used icebreakers takes no advance preparation and can be applied anywhere and to any new learning situation arising through the students’ learning journey. I also provide an inventory of other icebreakers that can be depleted in the classroom. Use them at the beginning, middle or end of any activity or class.
