In vivo laser speckle measurements of skin roughness: Clinical study

Roughness introduces a path lengths difference between the light waves scattered within the skin and reflected on the surface. Laser speckle technique has been applied for assessment of roughness of human skin in vivo. A significant difference between cancerous and benign skin tissues has been observed.
