Abstract

In this paper multi-Watt level output power from optically pumped quantum dot based semiconductor disk lasers emitting at 1040 nm and 1260 nm is demonstrated. A birefringent filter inserted in the cavity allowed these lasers to be tuned around their central wavelength over 50 nm and 35 nm respectively and both demonstrated output powers with 100 mWs. The results show the potential of quantum dot based semiconductor disk lasers as a widely tunable continuous wave semiconductor laser sources with Watt-level output power.
